![]() Our plot is that apparently an evil wizard is trying to take over the world and with a couple of calculators near by, you can save it! That’s it. The extremely dubious conceit of "Prodigy" is that hidden within the coding is basic consumerism marketed to kids. That is only the first of many problems with this game, a work so completely devoid of wit, style, intelligence or basic entertainment value that it makes the Angry Birds app seem like a pure artistic statement by comparison. Now comes “Prodigy,” a game that dares to ask “What if we combined MobyMax with simple graphics and a mostly game-driven area?,” a notion that I do not think that anyone has ever pondered for any amount of time outside of those stuck in a focus group. Since “MobyMax” became an enormous hit and a beloved modern teaching device by giving players an inspired look at skills they missed throughout the years, people have been striving to repeat that seemingly simple formula with a number of games that have offered this. This is not an appropriate program for young children and I will be communicating it clearly to my daughter's school and Board of Education. I'm saying this as a very informed individual who has taught young children, counselled across all grade levels, as well as assessed children with learning issues for over 20 years. They are getting to do their job and it's not okay to plunk a kid down on a computer program instead of direct teaching which takes considerable thought and effort. I'm especially annoyed by teachers who think this is an alternative to actually spending one on one time with their students individualizing what they actually teach to their students. This is not what education is about, or HOW it should be delivered. This is completely unethical considering the population it is aimed at. The developers of this software have done a good song and dance to convince local Boards of education to purchase the software. The concept of killing monsters is also not appropriate in the context of teaching young minds anything, including math. Playing to kids to put money out for their education is rather guilt laden for parents. The music is too loud, rushed in nature and too "dark" for young children, Very quickly into the program, kids (parents) are asked to purchased memberships which are very EXPENSIVE and totally inappropriate for a public school system to be recommending to parents. My daughter has no prior knowledge teaching of most of the concepts which makes the questions only frustrating and a review of my properly one on one taught math instruction. Manyu of the math concepts are excessively beyond the grade 2 curriculum and there is absolutely no type of "teaching" going on. This program was recommended by my daughter's grade 2 teacher. I'm a teacher and a Psychological consultant for the public school system. I think this software program is just awful for so many reasons.
![]() ![]() Sooner or later it becomes apparent that the game is still the one note joke it’s always been, and no matter how many side quests and secrets there are there’s no way to hide that. ![]() Even with the addition of both light and heavy attacks there’s more skill and excitement in wending your way through a horde of zombies without fighting than there is in actually attacking them, which eventually makes the whole process seem slightly pointless.Īs usual the game tries to mix things up with a range of deranged human opponents and boss-like ‘psychos’ but the culture shock of coming up against an enemy that actually presents a challenge is often jarring, and humans encountered elsewhere on the map seem as curiously resistant to damage as the zombies are prone to it. The same issue applies to the on-foot combat, and although many weapons have their own unique animations and combos once you’ve tried them out a few times the novelty quickly wears off. The problem is you get access to some pretty powerful vehicles very early on and once you’ve blown up or barbecued one crowd of zombies the second or third time (okay, the 20th or 30th) it doesn’t seem quite that much fun. You can now combine vehicles as well though, from a cross between a steam roller and a motorbike (complete with additional flamethrowers) or an armoured car with a turret cannon.īecause of the game world’s increased size (a whole city now, instead of just a shopping centre) the vehicles are a simple necessity for getting around, but as you might imagine they’re also enormous fun simply to roll about with, massacring zombies by the hundreds. Although it still seems a shame that you can’t invent any yourself – just follow pre-scripted recipes. There are also ordinary guns and makeshift weapons lying around but the combo creations are where the real fun is to be had. If you want to fight them while wearing a suit of armour and hitting them with a leather handbag you can, although the less dangerous route is to make use of the game’s revised combo system – which lets you combine two different objects into a single more deadly weapon.ĭead Rising 3 (XO) – the Rollerhawg is more fun with a friend In fact despite the presence of zombies the game isn’t remotely scary, since the undead are used as nothing but a punchline in the game’s non-stop joke reel of extreme violence. The main characters are written relatively straight, with new protagonist Nick Ramos portrayed as an affable but nondescript everyman, but this certainly isn’t the transformation into a grim and gritty horror game that some feared. When first unveiled there seemed to be an attempt to give Dead Rising 3 a more serious tone, but happily that’s not really the case in practise. It’s about killing thousands upon thousands of zombies in the most inventive way possible, ideally while wearing as many ridiculous items of clothing as possible. What remains is still the same basic premise though: an open world zombie game where you must, well… the end goal is simply to escape the city but Dead Rising isn’t really about plot or even story missions. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Genre: Ren’py, 3DCG, Erotic adventure, Visual novel, Big tits, Seduction, Oral sex, All sex, Sex toys, Masturbation, Beautiful ass If you see error messages or crashes, use a different save. You’ll start off with rubbish tips and sewage pumps, and end with rubbish incinerators and water purification stations. Upon hitting certain population levels, more services and buildings are unlocked that help keep your city afloat, generally getting more efficient and profitable. It’s very easy to get into debt in the early stages of city-planning – in fact, the hardest part of the game as a whole is the beginning, which can be a turnoff for players who want a more relaxing experience.Īfter clearing that first hurdle of bankruptcy, however, the game’s difficulty generally tones down the larger your city gets – all thanks to the milestone system. Even when choosing the easiest maps with the most natural resources – a high wind speed, plenty of water for sewage disposal, etc – it’s still quite challenging to get a city started, especially if you make it too large, too quickly. The constant financial peril that you always seem to be in makes Cities: Skylines makes a much more difficult game than first anticipated. Trust us when we say that it’ll happen a lot. How much different sectors are taxed, how much funding each public service gets, getting loans and bailouts from banks – every fiscal function is there, allowing you to micromanage the financial situation of your city in case you start losing money. Every type of building, from rubbish tips to police stations, is accessible from a toolbar at the bottom of the screen, while holding circle brings up a radial menu that allows you to manage the finances of your city. Though the interface is a little drab with grey menus aplenty, it’s incredibly simple to use. It’s little touches like these that Colossal Order has used magnificently to make cities seem more alive. Zoom into a residential district, for example, and the droning sounds of traffic will be replaced with the sound of dogs barking and people chatting. Still, there is a nice tilt-shift effect when you zoom into different districts in your city, as well as a sound change that corresponds to the type of district that you’re inspecting. Having the streets flood with poo just because you can’t find the menu for sewage pipes would be as frustrating as it would be hilarious. The sheer amount of variables to keep track of when creating your town – from population happiness and electricity demand to crime and pollution – demands precision control over every aspect of city maintenance. Simulation games as a whole seem to be married to the PC, the complexity of running a metropolis requiring menus, precise clicks, and control systems that simply aren’t compatible with the simplicity of a controller.Ĭities: Skylines, then, has found a gap – no, a canyon – in the market, but its lack of competition hasn’t made developer Colossal Order’s task of porting the highly complex urban planning sim to PlayStation any less. In terms of city-building games, the PlayStation 4 – hell, every console in general – is pretty light.
